Lest anyone think that Chavi's script is a work of fiction, I literally had this EXACT conversation with a sheitel macher over the summer.

Oh, I believe you! And I'm sorry you had this experience. What about returning bad quality wigs:
C: "The wig is frizzy and matted, after only one washing."
V: "What on earth have you done to this poor wig?"
C: "I have washed and cared for it like you said, and like my other wigs that I bought elsewhere, and that are still in great condition."
V: "You must have treated it badly. Try some conditioner, that always helps."
C: "I tried conditioner, it doesn't help."
V: "Well, I can't do anything for you, but offer you a new piece in the same price range at a discount."
C: "I don't wish to buy from you again since I've been already out so much money."
V: "Returns and exchanges on HH aren't possible. Try the conditioner again."
I can go on and on!!
And another one.....the vendor's comments:
This is virgin European hair.
This is European hair.
I am 90% sure this is European hair.
I am 99% sure this is European hair.
This 'virgin, non virgin' European hair is some of the 10% of such hair that cannot be coloured.
I will colour it at my risk.
I will colour it at your risk.
You cannot have your money back. No-one gets their money back.
You bought this specifically to wear to a function and now you want to return it.
I can offer you a better wig for an extra $800.
I can go on and on also, these vendors obviously attended the same sales course - shame on them!!
This is why I only purchase wigs from a sheitel macher that has a good return policy. I'd rather buy a lesser quality wig (say, Milano) and know that any problems that crop up in the first six months will be addressed with no questions asked, than a "steal" of a Freeda or Shevy from a no-name sheitel macher who won't help me if the piece is a dud.
My personal favorites are the "You cannot have your money back. No-one gets their money back" lines. Where else on earth can you spend over $1,000 on a single item with absolutely no guarantee that your money will be refunded if the store sold you a piece of junk?

Incidentally, after I had the conversation that Chani used to make this video I went straight to Milano. The staff I spoke with was literally rolling on the floor when I told them what had happened... Milano was very upfront with the fact that they were selling me processed hair (I purchased a pony sheitel) and I appreciated that they weren't trying to mislead me on the sheitel's quality.

I couldn't agree more about this: "Where else on earth can you spend over $1,000 on a single item with absolutely no guarantee that your money will be refunded if the store sold you a piece of junk?"
Until having to purchase "hair", I have never encountered such a loosely regulated industry - both in the UK and the US (and everywhere else it seems) - that can just take your money and not supply the goods that were agreed upon. It is a disgrace. I think that having a good grasp of your consumer rights when making such purchases is key. I am wondering if sometimes the refund policies of various vendors are actually in contradiction to the law of the state/country that they are operating from. I will have to look into this more. I know that there are regulations regarding distance/online selling in the UK, which companies often try to supersede with their own policies and their own policies are actually illegal/not valid.
